Evidence from the Prophet's time on the ban on smoking?

Source: Al-Fatwa Ladjnah ad Dâ'imah vol 22/207
Question:
Is there any evidence from the Prophet (peace and blessings upon him) time, which prohibits smoking?
Answer:
There has been no text that mentions this specifically, but it belongs to al-khabaaith (that which is repulsive / evil) and therefore fall into the statement of Allah (in importance):
'And he (the Prophet) explain permissible for them all good and useful things and prohibited everything that is evil and harmful. "
[Al-'Arâf: 157]
Smoking is therefore harmful and, therefore, also in the hadith: "We must not harm himself or others."
To spend money on that which is evil and harmful is haraam because it counts as a waste and then fall in under Allah's statement:
"Spenders are devils and the devil brothers showed great ingratitude to their Lord."
[Al-Isrâ'17: 27]
It thus wasting their money, which even the Prophet (peace and blessings upon him) has forbidden.
And success lies with Allah and we ask Allah to send peace and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family and companions.
